marking dog beds

Question
How can I get my male rabbit, who is fixed, to stop urinating on my dogs beds? Is there something I can spray on the beds to keep him from going there? He is litter trained, but likes to go on the beds.

Answer
Dear Jenny,

Oh, woe.  This is a very difficult problem, and one I've had very little success in solving in my own house.  My bunnies Vash and Kali have *perfect* litterbox habits.  The only problem is that the litterbox they've chosen is the living room futon.  :(  All efforts to dissuade them met with failure, and I finally was forced to cover the seat with plastic carpet protector (Home Depot) and decorator colored cotton mats that can be laundered when they get wee'ed on.

The bunny is marking the territory (and the dogs) as his own, and this behavior isn't necessarily stopped with neutering, unfortunately.  My best suggestion would be to cover the dog beds with a sheet of water-resistant mattress pads:  the type that feels like thick felt.  These can be washed, and will help prevent the pee from soaking into the bed.

I wish I could be more help.  But I have the same problem, and it's a tough one.  :(
