distemper in rabbits?

22 11:05:59

Question
I've been searching online and haven't been able to find out if pet rabbits are succeptible to distemper.  I know ferrets can get it, but what about rabbits?

Answer
Hi Kristin,

from my research, it appears that rabbits are not affected by distemper like dogs and cats are.  I believe that if they were, our vets would have mentioned this to us, especially given that domestic dogs and cats can get distemper and potentially be in the same household (and therefore could become infected if not vaccinated).  There would also be ordinances or even state laws on the books for rabbits to get vaccinated for this as well.
