rabbit and a guinea-pig?

Question
hey there,
I have a almost 5 year old lop eared dwarf rabbit. He is not neutered. i think he is rather lonely as he spends from about 9am till 3pm alone in his run. He is a very friendly chap and has even made friends with a pigeon!
At the moment i have 3 male (un neutered) guinea pigs staying with me for a week. He excepted them straight away and is already grooming and sharing food with them in his run. He seems happier already! Do you think i could adopt a male piggie from a rescue center to have as his companion? He could have his own hutch @ night but share the run during the day? do you think this is a good idea? Thanks very much! :] aly

Answer
Dear Aly,

If your bunny is lonely enough to fall in love with a guinea pig, then by all means you could try some "blind dates" with piggies at your local rescue center.  But it would be even better if you had him neutered and then allowed him to choose a spayed female rabbit from among the bachelorettes at the local rescue.  :)

Please see:

and then check the articles here for information on bonding bunnies.  Nothing cuter than snuggling bunnies!  :)

I hope this helps.  Good luck!
