Question
Hi. I have a baby mini lop he's approximately 8 weeks old. One of his ears has not yet flopped over and i was wondering if it ever will, or if it means there is anything wrong with him. I was just wondering (:

Answer
Dear Michelle,

A lop bunny's ears will start to droop any time between the ages of about 6-11 weeks of age.  The trait is affected by many factors, and it's possible that your bunny's ears may take longer to droop.

Some bunnies with mixed genetic heritage (with respect to the lop gene) may have ears that drop only part way, or they may have one ear up (the unicorn bunnies!).  You'll just have to wait and see.  :)

Note that lop bunnies are more prone that up-earred rabbits to have ear infections and other ear-related problems.  And if your bunny has a short face, you'll want a good rabbit vet who can do regular dental exams to make sure s/he doesn't develop a malocclusion (misalignment) of the incisors, or molar spurs:
