Rabbit feeding (babies)

Question
Kiara had her babies last night :)  I'm not sure how many, don't want to disturb the nest too much, but they are all warm and seem ok.
I have read that the doe feeds her babies standing up.  Kiara built her nest in a shoe box, with no place to stand up.  Should I leave it as is, or cut the lid off?

-----Question-----
My female rabbit started building a nest yesterday.  I have taken the male out.  How soon will she give birth after building her nest?  Also, after she has given birth, I will be neutering the male.  Will she also need to be spade?
-----Answer-----
Hi,
If you left the male in with her the whole time she was pregnant, then it could be any time that she has them. Males should never be left with females for any longer than 12 hrs. Keep this in mind for future breedings if you ever do it agian.
If she has pulled fur and packed her nest, then she can have babies any where from now to up to 35 days after the initial breeding. Make sure she has a nesting box to have the babies in though. You will not have to fix her, since you are fixing the male.

Answer
hi, if she can get in the box, then the babies can nurse. They do nurse them standing over them, but you would be surprized. If you feel more comfortable, cut the lid off. This will not disturb her too much, and it also gives you a chance to count and see the little ones. Most mom's don't mind if you touch them. Just make sure you wash your hands first so that you don't give them unneeded germs.
