my bunny is not eating

Question
My bunny (10 months old male) quitted eating veggies about a week ago. He always has huge choice of food - pellets with different grains, hey, lettuce (romaine and hearts), broccoli, carrots, kale, corn, fruits.... His usual appetite was 2 big plates of fresh food twice a day. Month ago I burned his neck with anti-flea drops, he was in pain shock for about 10 days, did not eat, we were at the vet,.... everything seemed to come to normal, he was healthy eating happy bunny again....
Week ago he quitted eating fresh food at all. I worry, but do not know what to think. He is not hurt, not in pain, sleeps day long, evening and morning hops around loving us. I know he is hungry, I bring him fresh food, he runs to me, sniffs, shakes his head and does not even give it a bite - turns away. It's like something with his smell thing - for example, he loves bananas, but now he sniffs it long, bites, chews, sniffs again, shakes his head and turns away. He keeps eating pellets, but not a lot. His plates with fresh food literally 2 big plates withers during a day, he may eat 1 little broccoli and that's all for the day. Scary.... I do not want him to be sick, but he does not look sick, it's just that HE IS HUNGRY, HE RUNS TO EAT, WANTS, BUT CAN NOT.......
But may be it's the weather, season or hibernation, ah? Please suggest something.

Thank you in advance,
Alla

Answer
Dear Alla,

When a bunny is hungry and wants to eat but can't, the prime suspect is dental problems.  Please read this right away:

www.bio.miami.edu/hare/dental.html

You will need a vet who knows how to check the mouth completely, including the molars.  A ten month old rabbit rarely has severe dental problems unless there is a congenital malocclusion of the teeth, so this might be something you will be dealing with all his life, if the source is, indeed, his teeth.

Please also read:

www.bio.miami.edu/hare/sickbun.html

for instructions on how to tell if your bunny is sick, and what to do until you can get him to the vet.  I hope you can find a good rabbit vet here:

I hope this helps.
