Question
QUESTION: Is baytril better than chloroxylerol as an antibiotic for my rabbit.

Thanks, Joyce

ANSWER: I'm sorry, I can't seem to find any information on chloroxylerol. Is there a common name for this drug? Baytril (enrofloxacin) is safe to use as an antiobiotic for rabbits. Check out this site for more information on antibiotics:

QUESTION: Is baytril better than chloroxylenol as an antibiotic for my rabbits sore.

Thanks, Joyce

ANSWER: Hi Joyce -

Thanks for finding the correct name of 'chloroxylenol'. Unfortunately, I still can't find it listed anywhere as an antibiotic that is used for pet rabbits. Personally, I wouldn't use something unless I knew it had been proven safe for my pet. Check out the list of safe antibiotics to find something that will work well for your bunny:

Good luck!

QUESTION: have you heard of chlor palm as an antibiotic.  (not sure if its spelt right)  The vet gave it to me for my rabbit as an antibiotic to be taken by mouth which is very hard to do with a syring type thing.

any suggestions?

Thanks, Joyce

Answer
Chlor palm (Chloramphenicol) is safe for rabbits but almost always leads to a decrease in appetite, which as you know, can be dangerous for bunnies and lead to GI Stasis. Just keep an eye on your bunny to make sure it continues to eat.
