QuestionHello,
In your opinion, would a male or female
rabbit be more affectionate and healthy?
I've had both but the females seem to get
sick. In dogs, I prefer females!
AnswerDear Anita,
I've had sooooo many rabbits that I can honestly tell you that there is more variation between individuals than can be explained by sex alone. In my experience, males tend to be a little bit more goofy and affectionate (not to say I haven't had bossy, dominant males), and females tend to be a little more aloof and bossy (though I have had wildly affectionate females, too). I can't say which makes a better companion. I love them all for their quirks and individuality. :)
Unspayed female rabbits have a high risk of uterine problems (including cancer), but other than that, I have not noticed that one sex tends to have more health problems than the other.
Don't know if any of this helps, but there you have it. :)
