My bunny rabbit is not feeling well..

Question
I noticed this evening that my bunny has not been wanting to eat his dry food or fresh food all day. I picked her up and i noticed her shiver or tremble. Her ears are also very cool inside a warm house so i want to assume its safe to say she is running a fever. Her stool droppings are kind of mushy, almost like diarreah but mainly very small with an abnormal shape and not round. She is a bit over a year old.. I called the vet but nobody is available tonight....Please help!!! what can i do to make her comfortable tonight??

Answer
Give her rolled oats (plain oatmeal is fine, just make sure it isn't the flavored oatmeal) and plenty of hay. If she will eat those, it will help get her digestive system back on track.

Massage her abdomen gently to see if you can get any gas bubbles that may be in there to break up. If there are gas bubbles causing pain, that may be why she is not eating.

Take her temperature with a plastic thermometer. The normal temperature range is 102-103 *F

Let your vet know it is an emergency, and try to get in sooner if at all possible. A rabbit that has not been eating for 12 hours, it is very dangerous. The gastrointestinal tract can shut down, causing some very serious side effects. It can cause the bad bacteria in the gut to get out of control, which can lead to toxins being dumped into the system. These bacteria produce toxins that the liver then has to deal with. This can cause the liver to shut down, leading to death. It can also cause a blockage of the gut, which can lead to extreme pain for the rabbit.
