Mini Lop Rabbit producing weird white globs?

Question
Hello,
I have a mini lop female rabbit that is almost a year old.  She generally stays in a large cage, but I let her roam around my room 3 to 6 hours a day.  This morning I noticed a stain on my carpet.  I didn't think it was from her because it was yellowish and sticky.  I just came in this evening and noticed that there was a white glob-ish type of thing sitting right next to the spot where the stain was this morning.  I could see that there was parts of hay and things in the white glob.  It is not very liquidy, it has more of a jello type consistency and it is white and about the size of a small bouncy ball.  Do you know what this is?  Is my rabbit okay? Otherwise she is acting completely normal.  Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Shelley

Answer
Dear Shelley,

Without seeing it I can't be sure.  But it sounds like a little blob of mucus that has come from her intestinal tract.  This can be a sign of irritation of the intestinal lining, but if she is acting normal and you see no further signs of this, then it might be just a transient thing.

If she is not spayed, be sure to set up an appointment to have that scheduled. Unspayed, unbred female rabbits have a very high risk of uterine cancer, and the early signs of this can cause strange things like bits of mucus in the stool.  Please also see:

If your bunny does start to show any sign of inappetence or further evidence of intestinal irritation (runny stool, gas), then please read these for important information and instructions:

I hope she'll be fine.
