introducing and stress

Question
We adopted a female dwarf lopped about 3 months ago aged four years . When we got her we were told that she was not looked after very well. It took awhile for her to settle down and get used to us, she's has been living in our living room without any problems. we thought we would get another dwarf lopped to keep her company, So we did. We introduced them in a neutral room of the house and put the young new rabbit in a pen and let the older run around. After a while with them touching noses through the cage and smelling one another we introduced them by holding them.(both rabbit was fine)  we had put the older rabbit on the floor to run freely this is when she went for the younger one. After this we put the younger rabbit back in the pen and let the older one run freely again and watched them. The older one still tried to keep going for the other rabbit though the pen and kept running around the pen. Is there any thing we can do the help ease the bonding for both rabbits and help prevent stress.

Answer
Dear Christopher,

You don't mention if the two bunnies are spayed/neutered.  But that is critical for success of this venture. Please read:

www.rabbit.org/health/spay.html

Find a good rabbit vet here:

www.rabbit.org/vets

Once both bunnies are "fixed," you can use the tips in the articles here:

to help bond the bunnies.

Hope this helps.
