I have had my lions head rabbit thumper for just over a year and now have just got a dwarf anibell and i found out that thumper was a boy I would enjoy having babies with the two, but I need to know how many roughly babies is she going to have and are these to ok to have babies right now she is a quarter of his size ahe is only 6 months and he is just over a year will i hurt her by letting the two of them play around?

Answer
Dear Kaitlyn,

All you need to know about breeding rabbits can be found right here:

A lionhead is much bigger than a dwarf, and the danger to Anibell could be great...even fatal.  I would not even consider this for a moment.  Please also read:

www.bio.miami.edu/hare/spay.html

and find a good rabbit vet here:

www.rabbit.org/vets

If you put them together to play, they won't play.  They'll get right down to the business of mating, and she could become pregnant in seconds.  No exaggeration.  It could cost her life.  Please do the right thing that's best for both bunnies.  They can live happily together only if spayed/neutered.

What you *can* do to ease the bonding process is to schedule their spay/neuters for a specific date (same day is best), and then let them have a night of passion only the day before.  That way, there will be no unwanted litter, but the two will fall in love overnight.  :)

Hope this helps.
