Question
i have a rabbit.some 2 days ago its hock has been swollen but now its decaying.only bones can be seen there.its seems to spread.what can be the problem and its remedy?

Answer
Hi Madhumita
It sounds like a sore that became abscessed and infected. The infection is now spreading and I really hope you have taken it to a vet by now. If left untreated, this is quickly going to kill your animal. It sounds like gangrene and its possible that the limb will not be able to be saved if this has been left up to now.
It's remedy is very much up to a qualified veterinarian. A course of heavy duty antibiotics might be sufficient if caught early enough. If your animal has stopped eating and drinking you will need to force feed. A rabbit who doesn't eat or drink can begin to have organ failure in as little as 24 hours. I have previous answered questions on sick rabbits and how to correctly syringe feed the animal and what you can do to sustain life.
Let me know if you need any assistance with tips on feeding or after care, but a vet has to see your bunny for him to get better. Good luck. This is an emergency, please act quickly.
I am sorry for the delay in the response, I was away for the weekend. Yours was my priority to answer first because of the seriousness of the situation.
