Question
Hi randy,
I have a question about my rabbit. he's about 6 1/2 months old, and i have no idea what breed he is. he has ears as long as your pinkie (maybe a little bit longer), a white belly, white on the bottom of his feet, white around his nostrils, white around his eyes, and a white ring around his neck. everything else was a brownish gray but his color has changed to a more dark grey and has no brown on him anymore. another thing is he's only a little bit smaller than a tissue box. do you have any idea what breed he is?

Answer
Hi Lilly,

It is hard to tell without a pic but based on your description...I am suspecting some sort of mix involving a Dutch and an English Spot.  Here is a link to a page of photos of different breeds.  Keep in mind that unless your rabbit came from a breeder that is breed specific, he might not appear exactly as these in the photos....that is where the mix comes in.  The white collar is usually a indication of some Dutch genes in there somewhere.  I think they are even calling the mixed rabbits "Americans" now.

A side note...we have a beautiful New Zealand...one of several "Big White Bunnies" that live here....that is named Lilly.  She was abandoned in Myrtle Beach, SC.  She was so vicious that the vets refused to treat her.  When they called me, they said her head was "turning to the side".  She was being eaten alive by mites.  We treated those and got her spayed and today she is a very docile lady.
