Question
We just had got 2 rabbits from our neighbors that that where moving and could not take them.  Never had any rabbits before i know very little about them.  Today there was some blood in the cage how would i know if she had babies or not.  Are they like dogs and bleed when they are in heat?  Do I have to move the male rabbit out of the cage if the female has babies or will he not hurt them?  Any info would be helpful.  thank you so much.

Answer
Hi,
Unless you know for sure that she was pregnant, then it could be two things. It could have been that she had babies, or that they were fighting and one got hurt.
Males and females should never be kept together, unless you are breeding them, but this is only for a short period of time. Also if they are both spayed/neutered. Rabbits are in heat almost all the time. No bleeding with this.
If and when she has babies, the male should never be kept with her. He can and probably will kill them, or she will kill them trying to protect them from him. You should keep them separated from now on, until you are breeding them.
