Question
hello sarah i wonder if you could help me.

my rabbits nails are getting very long and was wondering if i could clip them myself or do i have to take her to the vets? if i can do it will it hurt her?whats the best way of clipping them?

thank you

wendy.

Answer
hello wendy

Yes, you will be able to clip your bunnies nails. It can be quite easy when you get the hang of it. You have to be very careful not to cut too far as it will cut the vein and make her bleed. If it does happen then make sure that you stop the bleeding, then she will be fine.

ask someone to hold her tightly so that she will not wriggle and you hold her foot then gently clip her nails. go to the pet shop and get the best type of nail clippers. it may be best to soak the nails first to make them softer.

if you are very nervous ask your vet to show you first.

hope this helps
good luck

sarah
