Wild rabbit lose in house

Question
We brought a wild rabbit in the house and it got lose and now we can't find it.  It is a baby, any suggestions on finding it?

Answer
Dear Mackey,

Oh, dear.  A wild baby is so small and scared that he could get into the tiniest crack and get lost and stuck.  Look behind *everything* and be extremely careful whenever you move anything, such as furniture.  If there's a space behind or beside the refrigerator or stove, don't miss those areas.  Use a flashlight to look, rather than moving a heavy item if you can't see what's under it.

Don't forget to look for spaces under the kitchen cabinetry where the bunny might have squeezed in.  A cottontail will look for a dark, tight spot.  If you fear he's in a place you can't get to, shine a flashlight or keep a light on where he might be so that he can find his way out during the night.

If the baby is hiding in fear, then wait until nighttime and sit quietly.  He might appear, and then you can gently round him up.  This is only one of the reasons one should *never* handle wild rabbits. Please read:

I hope this helps.
