coccidiosis (Intestinal)

Question
My Flemish giant litter became very sick at about 10/11 weeks.  Four of five did not survive.  I did research and treated with out success.  It is only after an autopsy and more research that I have come to the conclusion that it is must be Coccidiosis (I believe my dam is a carrier). I have acquired Baycox and want to know what the recommended dosage would be.  For piglets at 3 to 5 days its 1 CC one time (figure per 3 to 5 pounds).......I've heard that with rabbits one treatment for three days in a row is sufficient but I have also read to treat for two days per animal and repeat at 5 days.  Getting a bit confused. I have only 4 rabbits. Two are adult Flemish one is a junior survivor and one is a little lion head adult (my grand daughters).  Thanks for any help you can offer.

Answer
Dear Karla,

Our vets prescribe treatment with toltrazuril sulfate/ponazuril (Baycox) at 20mg/kg for starters, but we've found that it can take a dose as high as 50mg/kg (1cc/kg of the 5% suspension) to really kill the coccidia.

Hope the bunnies will be fine after this.  But be sure the coccidiosis is really the problem, and not an overgrowth of E. coli.  Fecal culture and/or fecal flotation would help the vet diagnose this properly and prescribe appropriate treatment.
