QuestionI lost a rabbit a week ago due to the wrong feed. We changed the feed to an all age rabbit pellet feed. I fed them Friday, gave them some clean grass and carrot pieces as a treat, made sure they had water, and made sure they were all eating. When I went to check on them in the morning one was dead. I know I am not supposed to feed them clover, broccoli, lettuce etc. After reading several post, I quite giving them the fresh vegetables and gave them alfalfa hay and pellets. This morning another one died. It was not moving much, and I tried to get it to eat and drink. It wouldn't, and it started having convulsions/seizers. What am I doing wrong? I can't figure out what killed them. It was eating good last night. The youngest are about 8 or 9 weeks old. It had some stuff around its' nose/mouth and was sort of skinny. The first one gave us some warning It dropped weight and was very inactive. We don't have a vet that knows about rabbits, so I can't take them to a vet. If you can tell me what I am doing wrong, I would appreciate it. They are in the barn with goats, but the goats have their stall and the rabbits have their pen. We have horses too. I don't know if they can get anything from them, but I thought I would mention it. Thanks
Answerhi firstly its not a good idea to suddenly change a rabbits diet it has to be done gradually
all i can think of is that somehow the clover may have had some insecticide on it and this is what made them die.
without a post mortem it will be hard to say what actually caused it.
