Baby Kit

Question
Hello, My rabbit had a baby on New Yrs eve and we did not know she was pregnant as there were no signs beforehand. She gave birth to three kits but sadly 2 of them died. The 3rd one that she has left has been doing realy well and has been in the nest in the hutch. For some reason I have gone in and checked today and the mother has removed the kit from the nest and bought the kit downstairs and placed it under the stairs in amongst some straw and sawdust. This time though she has not covered it over with fur and I am now slightly worried, she is in the shed so is in shelter. I have spoken to the vets and they have been no help, the kit is fine and is breathing and moving alot but don't know what to do now, do I just leave it and hope for the best? Please help.

Answer
Hi Donna,
I would put the baby in a box with the same material that the nest is...just put it all into a box that the mom can get in and out of...keep it where she has it.  This way the baby won't roll around and get cold or taken by something.  If there is still fur around from the first nest, place this ontop of the baby in the nestbox.  This should be fine, all the best,Elizabeth
