Losing fur

Question

Charlie's paw
My rabbit is losing fur on his front right paw, around his "first" and "middle finger" nails. He seems to be biting at it sometimes, but all of his top fur in that area is gone.  He doesn't have much soft bedding, and he makes a mess of his cage quickly. This started a week ago at the most. There is a picture of his paw attached. Thanks in advance.

Hi Kaelan. I can't tell you exactly what the problem is but I can give a few ideas. He may have a fungus such as ring worm on his foot. He may be alergic to something in the bedding, or he might have some type of mite problem. I suggest you take him to the vet and let the vet do a skin scraping and look under the microscope to see what is really going on. You can't heal it if you don't know what it is.    pat
