dying baby guinea-pig

Question
Hello,

Can you please help me try to save my little baby guinea-pig Penut?

He is seven weeks old going on to eight this Saturday(17/7/04)

We have been feeding him carrots,celery,lettuce,tomatoes,2 strands of parsley and little bits of colliflower leaves.  (we don't give all of this to them at the one time) He is not drinking I am very worried he may die overnight.

Please write back as soon as possible because he may not have much longer to live if I don't help him.

Sencerly, Steph.

Answer
Hello Steph.

If he is not drinking then that is a sign of a bigger problem. There is nothing i can do to help your piggy, but there is something you can do. Take him to a vet. I can't tell you it's going to be one problem as it could be anything. That is the first sign that something is wrong with our piggies.

By the way, don't feed your piggy too many tomatoes (they contain acid which could give your piggies mouth sores). I wouldn't feed the califlower leaves either. Make sure to give your piggy a non stop supply of hay.

Please take your piggy in to access the problem. Guinea pigs go downhill really fast so he could seem okay, and three days later die. I would take care of the problem ASAP.

Please email me back and let me know what happens.
