my 1 year old guinea-pig Mitsy has a swollen eye lid and does not seem to worry her.

Hello Steph.

Poor girl, i wonder what happened. It's possible that another piggy gave her a little nip, it's possible that she poked her eye on some hay or something in the cage, or it's possible that she has an eye infection. If not treated, it WILL start to bother her. It's not normal and you need to take her to a vet to get some eye medicine before it becomes a problem.
