guinea pigs and rats

My family is thinking of getting a rat. Would the rat and our guine pig get along? or shuld we keep them seperate?

Your Guinea Pig might like to play with the rat once in a while. When I place my 2 Guinea Pig on the floor to play, I also place my dwarf hamster in her little roll around ball and place her on the floor with my Guinea Pigs. They get along alright.

So when you place your Guinea Pig on the floor to play you can put the rat in a roll around ball and see if they get along.

That is the only way though I would recommend the two being together as your Guinea Pig is a lot bigger then the rat and the rat could get seriously hurt if not in a protective roll around ball.
