Question
QUESTION: i have two guinea pigs that are both pregnant and right now they are in the same cage but do i have to separate them when it get close to them delivering

ANSWER: Hello Cheryl!
Yes when you can start feeling the babies move and it is close to labor and birth time i would make sure they are in there own cage by themselves. I will tell you why, when one mother has babies and another pregnant sow is in there, it will trigger an instinct and she will have them also even if its too early so i would keep them separated so you don't get any premature pups! Good luck with the two girls and make sure you are feeding them both alfalfa hay, good pellets ( I suggest Oxbow ), and Vitamin C rich vegetables.
If you have any other questions about their pregnancy's just ask because i am very experienced in that area, i actually have a pregnant one that is due any day now! Also if you just have a general guinea pig question feel free to ask!

QUESTION: one of my guinea pig just gave birth and now she is pregnant again how hard is that going to be on her i read that she could die i love her and don't want that to happen was told she had all females but there was a male in there what should i be looking for if anything thank Cheryl

Answer
Okay first, just breath :) ! There are tons of accidents like this that happen when a guinea pig gets bred back right after it just had a litter. It is hard on the guinea pig because it has not had time to rest and recuperate. There are chances that they may die, but there are chances anytime that they may die, even if they've only been bred once!
I would watch for signs of Pregnancy Toxemia: inappetence, depression, weakness, reluctance to move, incoordination, difficulty breathing, coma and death. Some afflicted sows may show no signs and suddenly die.
If you see these signs call your vet! Pregnancy Toxemia is most found in overweight sows during there first or second pregnancy!
Hope that helped, feel free to ask anything else!
