my guinea pig at night

I just got a new baby guinea pig and i was wondering how dark they like it at night. Should i cover the cage with a towel, or keep a faint night light near by? Does it matter?

Hi Maddy,

Guinea pigs like a routine; so just make sure you do the same each night. I leave my guinea pigs in a darkened room; lights out and curtains closed. They get any natural light that comes in, as well as lights from LEDs on electrical appliances and the fish tank if I leave its light on. This means they know that when I give them their hay and nibbly bits, and turn out the light - it's bedtime and they won't see me or get any more food until the morning.

If you sleep in the same room as your piggy and like a night light, or just want to leave one for them, this will be fine too.
