Sickly gerbil

Question
Hello-
I have had 3 female gerbils for about 3 years now. One of them must have had a stroke about a year ago, because her left ear droops, and her left eye stays shut.  She recovered well, and has never been sluggish or sickly, until about 2 weeks ago.  She is losing weight, losing her fur, breathing hard, and is wobbly.  She eats, but very slowly.  She looks like she is not going to survive much longer.  Is there anything you recommend I do for her?  I do not think she is in pain, but I cannot be certain.  She is quiet, and doesn't "squeak" any more than usual.

Answer
Hi Jill,

Aw, poor thing.  The main thing you can do is keep her comfortable.  Give her extra bedding, and make sure her food and water are near to her, so she doesn't have to exert a lot of effort to eat and drink.  You can handle her, but very gently, in case she is in pain.

I'm very sorry :(

If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask.
