Hamster keeps getting bigger!

Question
I had  a litter of golden hamsters I believe about two years ago. Six months ago one of the males who was tinier kept getting bigger and bigger around his stomach. One day he could no longer make a bowel movement, and he kind of popped open. Now one of the females is starting to look the same way. I thought that it may have just been cancer or some sort of growth before. Now I am wondering if it is something else. Any ideas? Thank You.

Hi Sean, sorry about your situation. Are the hamsters still energetic? If not, they may be in pain. It's true, the two hamsters may have some sort of tumor or another serious disease. I would definitely take them to the vet to get them checked out. It also seems the disease is contagious and/or hereditary.
