Hamster deaths

Question
We had our first hamster for over 2 years.  When he died we were keen to get a replacement.  But, unfortunately we have now lost about 4 hamsters in a row.
They all die the same way. One moment they seem very healthy and are happily running and exploring their cage, then the next thing they are lying in their beds curled up, usually in a strange position and are obviously distressed.  This usually happens last thing at night and by morning they are gone.
I have not only disinfected everything between hamsters but I have tried buying brand new cages so make sure there is no chance of spreading an infection.
I don't think we are doing anything different from what we did with the very first hamster and am at a loss as to what is going wrong.
Not only is this distressing my small daughter but I really don't like the idea that something I'm doing or not doing is causing harm to these small animals and would really appreciate some advice before we try again.  Thanks

Answer
I'm very sorry to hear what has been happening Gillian, and let me tell you I am dumbfounded....My only 3 things I can advise you to do is...

1. BUY FROM A NEW SUPPLIER the pet stores Hams may have a disease that is passed through the pet store.

2. Sadly stop buying Hams and move to gerbils, or Goldfish

3. Stop buying any pets I know this might be hard, but there might be a flu germ in your house (you and all other permenent occupaints are immune to it) when new comers come they are not yet immune to it, hence the idea of fish....
Hope this helped and good luck!
