QuestionI am getting two gerbils from my teacher, and I am going to breed them. At what age should I do so?
AnswerHi Marcus,
The gerbils should be at least 4 months old before they breed (and no older than 1 year for a first litter).
Gerbils appreciate the company of others, but you won't be able to keep a female and male in one cage without them having many babies. So, keep them separate until they mate - then, when the female gives birth, and after the babies are weaned, you can keep one female in with the mother, and one male in with the father.
If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask :)
