Question
ive had my hamster for about 5 months now and hes a dwarf hamster and after the first few days i got him with plenty of handling, he started to bite me. hes bitten me about ten times now and i dont know what to do with him. also if i get another dwarf or a diffent breed, could i put them in the same cage?

Answer
Hamsters have personalities and traits that are just as different as people have.  One thing to try is to be sure your hands are washed VERY well.  If they smell something tasty on your hands it can be a trigger.  Also, it might be that you are waking him up.  If you have a pair of gardening gloves or something of the sort, you can try that.  Just be patient. Dwarfs are generally good socialites and do like to have friends.  It is not recommended to have different species in together although I have a few like that.  You would have to be willing to take the chance that if you get another hamster to put in with him and they don't get along, you will have to house them separately.
