Question
the two that were light brown i have a feeling are now turning grey like the mum... she's a dark grey one with dark eyes... like an agouti but without the brown bits i think!! the little spot that was on the white one is getting a little bit bigger... maybe she will be grey too? anyhow... can i keep the three girls together in one cage? and if i keep the boy in a different cage can i breed them together at a later date? thankyou so much!!!

hey! i recently bought a gerbil for the first time from a lady that didnt want her anymore, and two days later it had three babies! theyre all fine and i reaally love them, but was just wondering what colours they might turn out to be. two of them are brown babies so i'm guessing that they will stay that way but one was born white and is still white two weeks after birth apart from a greyish tail and a teeny tiny grey fleck on it's back. will it stay white or will it go grey like the mummy? i think theyve all got black eyes although they havent opened them yet... but you can see black around the eye. also, there are two girls and a boy, can i keep the girls with the mum and give the boy away? i dont know if you can keep more than two together? thankyou! elly

The two brown sound Agouti which is the wild or common color. What color is the mother? Is she a dark grey or light? What color are her eyes? The other pup whose white will probably stay white but its impossible to tell without a picture. It could be a light version of gray but I couldn't tell you.

Answer
The mom sounds Grey Agouti to me. Its very hard to say what the pups are. Yes the girls can stay with mom. If you choose to breed then go ahead and pair them up now. Don't leave him in with the other 3 girls or you'll have a mess. If you really want to breed then take the girl you want to breed him with and pair him in a tank with her. The other cage can have the other two girls. Trying to introduce gerbils who don't know each other is very difficult and if you take him out now and choose to breed later then they'll forget one another. If you pair him with his mom they could start breeding very soon but if you pair him with his sister they'll take a few months to have their first litter.
