Syrian - pregnant??

I got my syrian female hamster Princess 1 week and 2 days ago. Since getting hr, i have noticed in the past 3 days that she is spending much more time in her house than the rest of the cage. She pops out as soon as i put food in her bowl and pretty much empties it within minutes of me filling it. She is keeping the food in the house rather than the bowl. She has also become noticably bigger in the past week. Could it be that she is pregnant?? She still is curious and responsive and apart from her size she is bright eyed and looks healthy. The only thing that makes me think she may not be pregnant, or in fact even a girl, is that i have noticed her bum area looks bigger- leading me to think they may be testicles??

Hi Steph,

    She could be pregnant, if indeed she is a female. That answer should come within the next 7-10 days by her giving birth.
    Take a look at the under side near the private area. A female has two holes very close together ( .. ), it sometimes may even look like there is only one. A male will also have two holes but they are further apart (.  .), you may also see his testicles or a line with a bump on each side of it (just depends on the age). Males are also larger in size than females.
    If you do indeed have a female and she gives birth, you will need to start feeding her high protein foods like hard boiled egg and diced carrots ( about 5-6 pieces of each) every evening while she is up.
