Hamsters Attract Other Rodents?

Question
Hi! I live in a mice-free apartment, and I am considering getting a hamster for a pet! I went to petco to kill time the other day and absolutley fell IN LOVE with them. But I am very afraid of mice and I'm wondering if they can smell hamsters and may come around? Any insight would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Answer
Hamsters have never been shown to attract rodents, hamsters are solitary adult animals, and ferociously protect their territory from other hamsters, as well as any other animal that would try to take it's burrow in the wild. It only makes sense that other rodents would want nothing to do with the hamsters themselves. What would attract a rodent is if you somehow leave piles of hamster food out, and even that's a stretch.
