about breeding!

My Syrian hamster has had a litter of ten babies, they are 14 days old, can I touch them? Or hold them? Or clean about the cage???!!!

At 2 weeks of age it is safe to clean the cage out without mom getting upset. You may also begin to handle them, but remember to be very gentle, and mommy ham may not like it. Females that are normally very kind can become very aggressive and will bite at a hand that tries to go for her babies. Make sure the babies have access to the water bottle at this age, so lower it down if it sits high. They will begin eating real hamster food and drinking from the bottle in about a week.
