Winter Whites or Campbells, how to tell the difference?

Question
Hi,

I bought 2 WW from a pet store, but I suspect that they may be Campbells.  Their physical descriptions do not quite match the descriptions of WW I found on the net (though it's possible that I may have misinterpreted/not fully understood the descriptions).

However, their attitude is that of a WW, which is calm, docile; they don't bite like Campbells do; and their hair is much softer than my Roborovskis or my black spotted Campbells.

I have some pictures:

Thx for the help

Answer
Hi Adrian

It can be difficult working out the difference between Winter Whites and Campbells.  I've had a look at your photos and think they look more like Campbells, but I will get a second opinion on this from a friend who is an expert in dwarf hamsters.  On my website: www.thehamstersite.com, I've got some photos of Campbells and Winter Whites.  Winter Whites tend to have a more pointed nose than Campbells.

With regard to their temperament.  Often Campbells don't show their true personality until they are adult when they can suddenly change over night.  However, I have had several Campbells who have been fantastic and never bit me.  In fact my first Campbells were like this so I was really surprised to learn how temperamental they can be.  So there is always a chance you have been lucky and found some friendly Campbells!

I'll get back to you with some more feedback to your photos as soon as possible.
