Sick or In Labor?

Question
Hello, my name is Jenny and I have 2 female hamsters. When I came home this morning I noticed one of my hamsters on her wheel, but half of her body was laying on it and the other half kinda laying off. I took the wheel out and she just kinda flopped on her back with her hind legs spread out. There was a piece of bedding by her vaginal area that I tried moving with a little paintbrush but it seemed stuck and also her vaginal area seemed dry. I have her laying on her tummy right now with a towel over her to keep her warm. I tried offering her some water, but she won't take it. It seems like she's weak and tired. I realize its hard to tell the genders of hamsters, so it kind of has me thinking if my pet store didn't get the other female she is rooming with mistaken for another gender. It would be great if you could help me out. Thank you so much!

Answer
Hi Jenny,
For one thing, keeping two female hamster together is not a good idea. Females seem to not get along very well together. The only thing I can think of that would make her tired is her and the other female might of been fighting all day while you were gone and she is very tired of doing that. Try to get that bedding out of her vigina that might be the cause of her vigina being dry. The bedding is absorbing the fluid in her vigina. right now her body is starting to reject the object an is causing an infection(most likely). To get the bedding out use some tweser.Just be CAREFULL! okay. If she was in labor she wouldn't be on the wheel. she would of had a bed made by now and be laying in it. Take an eyedropper and put some water in it and force her to drink. she has to have fluid in her to help fight off anything that is causing her sickness. Remove the other hamser and watch over her for the next 24 hours. okay
I hope this has helped you. good luck with your hamster.
