My hamsters eye...

My hamsters eye is coming out of the socket.There is blood all around his eye and is scratching it to the point were the fur has come off.Is There anything I can Do or Should I have A vet put him down?

Hi Madison,

If your hamster is a russian dwarf then it seems like he has got a condition called glucomae.

It is quite common in russians and you should take him to the vets straight away.

Depending on how advanced the condition is, your vet may be able to give you some cream to put on his eye, and could make it a little better - but please be prepared for your hamster to go blind as this is what happens to them at the last stages of this condition.

Please take him to the vets and let me know how you get on.
