i have a female golden/white fancy-(short-haired) hamster she is exactly 2 months,3 weeks and 2 days old from the nineteen of may 07 i have just bought her a new cage it is 48cm by 72cm big it has an exercise running ball connected to the tubes and a exercise wheel she has a wooden chewing block a salt wheel and a mineral stone she has both fluffy and paper bedding but still seems bored i have outside time with her she sits in my arms and cleans herself i feed her by hand sometimes and by her high quality treats and she trusts me a lot i love her so much but she still seems bored sometimes she just sleeps all day she uses all of her stuff and loves them soo but she still seems bored what can i do i do not want to get her a mate because sometimes the moms can die through pregnancy and i can not risk that with her because i am so attached to her what can i do please help PS sorry for the long letter but i wanted you to know all the info thanks a lot

    The sleeping all day is normal behavior for hamsters, they are nocturnal, so they are more active at night.
    It seems like Penni has a great home. If the running ball comes off the cage, try putting her in it and letting her roam around the house for about an hour. My hamsters seem to enjoy this more than running in the same spot.
