number of ties for a mini daschund dangerous

Hi Renee, I have some older children who are breeding registered, show quality mini dox once a year for family and limited sale. They breed inside their home, their foundation dogs and puppies are part of their big family of 8. My daughter mentioned in passing that her female tied 6 times this last cycle. She said the last two ties were not suppose to happen. I am just wondering (and I don't want to ask them) if it is dangerous for the female and the puppies?

Hi. This will just give them mulyiple due dates, it may make it harder to know if she's went over her due date, or is early. Also, the problem with breeding a dog this many times is that you may end up with a premature pup or two that resulted from the last breeding. As long as she watched her carefully and goes to the vet if something comes up, then everything should be ok. Good luck, feel free to write if you have any more questions.
