yorkies on heat

i have a female and male yorkie,female on heat she is 3yrs old,she is caged from male who is 18mths old, i am sorry if i sounds stupid,but could you please tell me what symptoms the male will go through,my male is not eating,drinking and shaking,is this to do with female on heat.kind regards georgie

Don't feel stupid...most people ask what the females symptoms are and forget about the poor male.  

A male can "lose his mind" when a female is in heat, it is very typical for a male to go through extreme weight loss, nervousness and just plain craziness.

The male and female should be completely separated.  It wouldn't hurt to have a friend babysit him until you plan on breeding.
