Question
my puggle gave birth to 7 pups on May16 when can i give her a bath? also she got pregnant from the beagle downstairs they r crying to see each other but i haven't let them near each other because i'm afraid of another pregnancy. is this possible or just when she is in heat? i feel bad because she misses him but i don't want to get her spaded til she is done with nursing i think she's gone through enough right now. and i don't want another pregnancy. so is it safe to allow them to see each other?

Answer
A female only ovulates during her season.  That's when she is at risk of pregnancy.

If you don't plan on having any more pups or moving, I would consider having her spayed after she's weaned her pups.  Once dogs have bred, it is next to impossible to keep them home.

It's important to keep the male away from the pups until they are at least 6 weeks old, and then only under supervision.

Good luck.
