Question
Dear Renee, my best friends golden retriever started whelping about 5 pm last night, delivered the first puppy at 642pm. but no puppies since? does that mean there is only one puppy, she is taking her to the vet this morning but we are very concerned because the first one was breech. We are supposed to buy one of the puppies when it is time or them to seperate from the mom.

Answer
Hi Karen. I hope by now this has all been taken care of. I would most definitely get her to the vet to be checked out. Having only one puppy is more common than people think, however, anytime after a dog whelps it's best to get her in to the vet just to make sure that everything's out. Breech is a normal position for puppies to be whelped, no worry there. I'd get her in to make sure that there's nothing left in there. Please let me know how it turns out.
