Question
i have an 11 mos old 3/4 american and 1/4 english bulldog... went into heat around a week ago.... blood is watery and seems to drip alot more during the day.... starting today, she's thru up 3 times, each looking like white-kinda clearish mucus. and then again about an hour later, more watery clearish-yellow and alotof it.... she has been smelling bad but thought it was from the foul blood. isn't eating much which is odd for her and not very active... lays around alot. will play alittle if coaxed... her best friend maliki died 2 days before her heat.. went to get snipped and didnt make it through recovery... thought this may be her being depressed but not thinking that is all now.... what do u think may be the matter? heard of a couple deadly deseases and i want to make sure she is ok... Thanks... Ron

Answer
Hi Ron. There are a few things that you said that concerns me. She's not eating well, not active, throwing up, and has a foul smelling discharge. I would get this girl to the vet, she may have a serious infection here. While it's normal for a dog's behavior to change during her heat, these signs show that something's just not right here. She may need a simple antibiotic to help, or she may be starting with pyrometra, a serious uterine infection. Your best bet would be to get her to the vet ASAP. There's so many different things that it could be, I can't really say for sure. A vet would be needed to determine what's going on here. I'm sorry I couldn't give any more advice here, and I'm also sorry for your loss.
