first heat cycle in miniature schnauzers

I have a miniature schnauzer that is almost 8 months old and has not come into cycle yet. I was wondering how old they are when they come in and how often.

HI Lyla. They usually come in within the first year, although some girls may wait a few months after turning one. As for how often they come in, it depends. Some come in every 6 months, some 8 months, and some may come into heat once a year. Ask your breeder how often her mom came in, and that will be a clue.
