Question
Hello,
I have a 8month old male English Springer Spaniel.  Today I noticed (I can not remember seeing this before), a brown spot that extends off the colored portion of his brown eyes.  The brown spot is somewhat circular and is on the whites of his eye. It is on the actual eye, not fur.  He is not bothered by it, doesn't pick or show anything unusual.  Is that normal? What causes it? Thanks in advance.
Heidi

Answer
I have no idea what this is, but your veterinarian could give you the contact information to a veterinary opthalmologist in your area. All dogs should have yearly eye exams to check for potential problems. Occasionally, kennel clubs or other dog organizations will have eye clinics so that people can bring their dogs in for eye screenings at (often) a reduced price.
