Puppy Aggression

Question
I have a 12 year old wonderful Boston Terrier and just recently adopted a 10 week old Boston Terrier/Catahoula mix puppy.  The puppy has growled at my 4 year old daughter when she puts her face near his while he is sleeping.  I immediately correct him but his body posture is still very rigid when my daughter approaches (only while he is resting/sleeping and only when she puts her face directly in front of his face) ... they are fine at all other times.  Last night I put my face in the puppy's face and he growled at me but my 12 year old Boston flew across the room and put the puppy in a submissive position (which I guess was her way of correcting the puppy) but the older dog does not react this way when the puppy growls at my daughter?  At 10 weeks, do I need to look at obedience training? Why won't my alpha female also react to the puppy when she growls at my daughter?  I find that interesting.

Answer
It could have been that the older dog might have though the the puppy was growling at her,it is also interesting to point out that dogs, even ones that are good with children view children as being lower ranked then themselves, and will look at the adults in the family as leaders so that could be the case too-that she saw the puppy as a threat to leadership. With the 4 year old she probably didn't see that as a threat to her

Now as for obedience classes, yes she needs to go,and the sooner the better. It will only get worse if she does not go to training, and that is what she needs
