Is my daughters puppy pregnant?

19 14:00:15

Question
My daughter has a lab/terrier mix (female) Cloe and my husband and I have a cocker/rott mix (male) - Bear.

Sometime in April Cloe went into heat and was done around Mother's Day.  We only found a couple spots of blood around the house and the only way we could tell is because Bear was going nuts and always trying to "Do His Thing".

Is is possible she is pregnant?  If so, when approximately would she have puppies?  I don't see a difference in her size and her nipples are a little bigger but other than that we don't really see any change.

Thanks for your help!

Answer
Hi Carol,  Dogs carry their pups for 63 days approx.  If she has never had a litter, she can carry them up under her rib cage and they may not "drop" until 2 weeks before they are due.  I would count from when they possibly mated and check her around 2 weeks before.  Her nipples can get larger if she is going through a false pregnancy which is when a dog's body tells it that it is pregnant so the dog will go through all the symptoms of being pregnant without actually being pregnant.  You can get x-rays done when she gets closer to term to see if she really is pregnant.  Hope this helps,

Dawn
