Sexually aggressive dog

Question
Hello S.C.!
I have an 8 month old Catahoula Cur. I'm currently staying with my parents and my mothers female dog went into heat. My dog ended up humping my mothers dog twice and they got connected each time. After my mothers dog was no longer in heat, my catahoula would still attempt to hump and actually got connected again! My mothers dog was screaming the entire time. Afterwards, my mothers dog tore apart every stuffed toy she has along with parts of the couch. And still continues to. I'm worried this has seriously traumatized her? We have kept the two dogs seperated for the past week since it happened and about 20 minutes ago my sister and i were outside and my dog began to attack my sister (biting her shirt and tugging and attempting to hump her leg). I tried to get him off and he started doing the same to me! It wasn't a malicious attack, more playful; but extremely uncharacteristic of him. He isn't fixed yet and I definitely plan on getting it done this week. I would just like to know if you have ever heard of anything like this before.
I'd appreciate ANY input! Thanks!

Answer
Hi Natasha :)
I apologize that I took so long to respond.
It sounds to me like your dog is just hitting his "puberty stage" if you will, which occurs, generally, between 6 - 12 months.

If the female dog was in heat, the scent probably increased his "drive", and now he's acting aggressive as a result.

After you neuter him, it should take care of the random aggression, as well as the "leg-humping".

If, after the surgery, he continues to display abnormal behavior, you might consider a local trainer to help establish the basic pack roles ;)

Hope I've answered your questions!
