Question
I had a lovely little yorkie but three weeks ago he dissapeared.Im looking for another small dog that is cute, intelligent,non-shedding,small,and quiet like she would just sit on my lap and cuddle which all of these things my sammy did.I was thinking of getting another Yorkshire again but i know i would always be comparing it to my little Sam (who we think was stolen)and no matter how good this new pup is it will never be as good as my Sam so that wouldn't be fair on that little yorkie so instead i was thinking of a Bichon Frise or a Coton de Tulear but i really don't know, can you please help me as i really don't know what to do.please write back as soon as possible!!!

Answer
Hi Claragh;
All dogs shed to some degree, except, possibly the Mexican Hairless.
Some shed more than others.
First, you are expecting too much of a dog.
You have to adjust to the dog's personality, not expect a dog to adjust to your's.
Dogs are like children. They look to you for lovem, safety and protection and care, but they each have their own personalities, and you have to make the allowances for these traits, and enjoy and love the dog for it's own individual qualities.
You can't get a dog designed to your own needs and wants.
In other words, you train them and teach them, but you still have some warts, and these are what makes the joy of owning dogs most unique.
You have to look at them like you would a child you have, because they are closer to humans than most people think.
They need a family structure( pack) like humans do.
they need more personal attention, and they need a lot of understanding.
You should not compare on to another, and never expect one animal to live upo to another, andmore than you would expect a child to live up to another.
They are all going to be differnet.
Getting the same breed will not ghet exactly the same personality.
There will be a lot of similarities, but you are not going to get a clone.
You may need to consider some other animal as a pet.
Birds are more likely to be ecactly like others of their kind, for instance.
